Voxel Machine: Free Voxel Addon for Blender
Voxel Machine is a free addon for Blender 4x that allows you to easily turn almost any model into a voxel-like model. Using Geometry Nodes, Voxel Machine will store the UV data of the object allowing you to use textures just like usual.
Voxel Machine also comes with the ability to add what I like to call "Voxel Meshes" which can be found in the 3D View 'Add' Menu. Using Voxel Meshes you can easily create voxel models from scratch in real-time. This allows a much faster workflow than the usual voxel workflow where you place each individual voxel by hand.
FAQ:
Q: Is there a way to add voxels manually?
A: Currently there is no way to place voxels by hand, using Voxel Machine.
Q: Does it work with all kinds of objects?
A: No, it does not work with all kinds of objects. The object needs to be a regular mesh (e.g. not a procedural object, vdb etc.). The object also can't have holes in the mesh as this will cause issues with the voxelization.
Q: What does resolution mean? And which resolution should I use?
A: The 'resolution' parameter simply refers to the size of the voxels. A resolution of 128 will result in smaller voxels, and therefor more details. The resolution also depends on the scale of the object, so I recommend not working with very large objects as this can be quite heavy for the PC.
Q: Is the addon optimized?
A: I have tried my best to optimize the addon as much as I can. I have created a system that deletes all voxels inside the object to decrease the poly-count, but depending on your settings it may still be heavy on your system.
